General Arrival Info: Academic Advising

Degree seeking students will work with an academic advisor in the academic unit (School/College). Your advisor may be the same person throughout your entire undergraduate degree program or you may be assigned one advisor for your beginning level study and another advisor for the more specialized years of your degree program. Each semester your advisor will help you select the courses you will study in order to meet requirements for graduation. You will enroll in a combination of required and elective subjects applicable to your degree program. Schools will hold registration sessions the week before classes begin; however, you are encouraged to contact your School’s advising office before you arrive at Purdue to ask about registering by phone or e-mail.

REMEMBER: As an F-1 or J-1 student, you must enroll in and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester-that is about four or five classes per semester.
