International Baccalaureate Education System

Purdue encourages prospective students to seek the most challenging pre-university courses possible. Students taking International Baccalaureate (IB) courses will be considered for admission regardless if they are pursuing the IB diploma or not as long as the general subject matter requirements are met: www.admissions.purdue.edu/apply/highschoolcourses.php For admission purposes, HL coursework is not given a particular preference over SL coursework. An applicant's entire academic profile will be reviewed holistically.

To receive credit for International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations, an official transcript of examination grades must be officially sent by the IB Offices (Maryland, Geneva, or London) directly to the Office of Admissions at Purdue. Please contact the respective IB Offices to submit scores to Purdue electronically. Examinations can be taken at either the Subsidiary Level (SL) or at the Higher Level (HL), but college credits typically will be awarded for HL examinations only with a few exceptions. Please see our detailed credit awarding guidelines for IB examinations by visiting: www.iss.purdue.edu/admission/ugrad/ib.cfm.

All beginning and transfer students accepting admission to Purdue and are seeking college credits for IB examinations must arrange for an official transcript of examination grades to be sent to Purdue by the IB Offices once available before classes begin.
