F-1: School Transfer

"Transfer In" to Purdue University

A Purdue "Transfer-In" form is emailed to all admitted transfer students and must be given to the student's current international office.  The current school's Designated School Official (DSO) must be notified of a student's desire to be transferred to Purdue University.   The form can be mailed or faxed to ISS: 765-494-6859.

F-1 students transferring from another U.S. educational institution (high school, language center, university, or different Purdue campus) must Check-In with ISS office to complete the transfer process.  All transfers must be completed within two weeks after the first day of classes.

The following documents must be submitted in order to complete the transfer:

  • Purdue issued Form I-20 marked for transfer

  • Form I-20 from previous schools

  • Completed "Transfer-In" form

  • Passport, visa, & I-94.

"Transfer-Out" from Purdue to another institution

Transfer Out Form (SEVIS "Release" Form)
Complete the form when planning a transfer to another U.S. educational institution.  Notify the Purdue International Student & Scholar (ISS) office of your intent and the name of the new institution.

Students transferring from Purdue to another US institution should obtain a Form I-20 from the new school, and complete the transfer procedure at that school.
