OPT Online Workshop

Welcome to the OPT Online Workshop!

The purpose of the online workshop is to help F-1 international students understand OPT regulations, to answer frequently asked questions concerning OPT, and to assist in gathering and completing the required documents for your application.

Important Note:

It will take approximately 1 hour to complete this online workshop. Please make sure you have the time to complete the workshop fully before you begin.

  • Part 1: The first half of the workshop is informational. You will learn about the process of applying and important regulations about working on OPT.

  • Part 2: The second half will guide you through preparing all the documents required to apply for OPT.

You must be able to print documents while going through this workshop. If you are unable to print at this time, you may return to this online workshop later. If you are returning, please log in below and proceed through the complete workshop. You can go through these informational pages as many times as you like, before and even after you apply for OPT.

Upon completion of the online OPT workshop, you will be able to schedule a Follow-Up session with ISS to turn in your OPT application materials. The follow-up session can last up to one hour. To avoid any processing delays, you must have all the required completed documents before attending a Follow-Up session. Be sure to bring your final confirmation page of this online workshop to your follow-up session. You must arrive on time. If you are unable to attend your scheduled session, please call the ISS front desk to cancel or reschedule.
